Comments: The Land 'O Lakes document has eroded the Catholic identity of the University, it seems to me, and the remedy may lie in recovering it through the faculty senate if there is one. Enthusiasm for all things Catholic is more in evidence now than ever before, to us as visitors, and especially as particpants in the Ethics and Culture meeting this autumn. Maybe this would also help. There is also some very close philosophical reasoning that could be given, drawing on the writings of Popes Benedict and John Paul II. Enthusiasm on the parts of young people for these popes might make this a favorable approach. There is also a small book of the thoughts of Fr. Hesburgh about the University, which put it in the league of the new start- up Catholic Universities which are becoming so popular. This might be another approach. I wish I could be of more help. I will be praying for the success of this project to recover the solid Catholic identity of the University.

Comments: Plays about vaginas are not consistent with a university devoted to Our Lady. Their idea is actually a homosexual one (if you think about it). Women talking to women about women, and doing something about it. . .

Comments: We only have one word for this dereliction of duty and recklessness on the part of Notre Dame: outrageous! We will send this petition to as many Notre Dame alumni and others as possible.

Comments: Our Ressurection is through the acceptance and carrying of the Cross. Notre Dame must carry the Cross of Obedience and Faithfullness publicly in order to reclaim her claim to being a Catholic college.
