The petition
Thousands and thousands of people with disabilities face challenges that most people can't even imagine dealing with. What some don't realize is that often one of these issues is having to use a catheter to go to the bathroom. Every day, thousands of people must insert a catheter into their bladder to empty it. As it stands right now, Medicare pays for one (1)single use catheter per week. That's four a month. As you may know, people need to empty their bladder more than once a week, and are forced to reuse the single-use catheters, several times a day! This can lead to sometimes fatal infections. People with disabilities face enough obstacles- dealing with an unnecessary bladder infection shouldn't be one of them. It doesn't cost that much for a catheter- under $2 a piece. Please sign this petition and help us get Medicare to change this policy!
