Comments: The steadily dropping water levels at Lake Powell reservoir on the Colorado River have unveiled spectacular features not seen in decades. Emerging cultural, biological, and scenic resources found only in Glen Canyon are now threatened to be unnecessarily flooded this spring. As it now stands, precious features such as Cathedral in the Desert, Register Rock, petroglyphs, and Fort Moqui will go right back under 25-50 feet of water during May and June -- only to be uncovered once again later this year. This fluctuation of water levels is unnecessary and destructive to emerging cultural, historical, and scenic sites in Glen Canyon. All "surplus" waters of the Colorado River can easily be stored at Lake Mead and in available upper basin reservoirs instead of in Lake Powell. As water levels at Lake Powell drop, they should not be allowed to rise and further damage fragile emerging sacred sites and resources in Glen Canyon. Please urge the Bureau of Reclamation to protect these priceless treasures by storing the "surplus" runoff this spring somewhere else. Thank you very much for your time and consideration. Please protect Glen Canyon for future generations.

Comments: The riches beneath Lake Powell are too priceless to be buried yet again by greedy water mongers. By keeping Lake Powell at a lower level than "full pool", we can ensure a valuable compromise between water hungry states and those that care for our natural national heritage.

Comments: I saw Rainbow Bridge before the water ran underneath it. I've seen some of Glen Canyon in this time of low water. The treasures there must be preserved. Since it is possible to store "surplus" water other places, such as Lake Mead, we should use this option and keep Glen Canyon as it is today. Please give this situation serious consideration before this spectacular place is once again submerged.

Comments: The expected Spring 2005 runoff from the Upper Basin can be easily accomodated at Lake Mead, allowing the National Park Service to further evaluate the recreational, economic, cultural, and historical significance of the emerging landscapes at Glen Canyon. Please act now to utilize Colorado River water in a way that will not needlesly jeopardize these new opportunities at Glen Canyon. Thank you!

Comments: Lake Powell is an unusually wasteful reservoir due to seepage. The drafters of the contact stated in their discussions that the storage to smooth the flow for the Lower Basin sould be in the Lower Basin, most likely at Boulder Canyon. They were right. Make Glen Canyon Dam a flood control dam and only fill it as necessary after Mead and all the other reservoirs are full.
