Name: Ernie Long on Apr 6, 2005State: CACountry: USComments: This is a no-brainer. Please divert water to Lake Mead and other downstream storage. The natural beauty of Glen Canyon is a gift to all Americans and there is not reasonable basis to continue covering it with water.Flag

Name: Crista Worthy on Apr 6, 2005State: CACountry: USComments: I visit Lake Powell regularly for hikes in spring and fall. 5 years ago when the reservoir was full, there was virtually no animal or plant life around. Now the canyons are filled with birds and new plants. An ecosystem is returning. There is still plenty of water for boaters.Flag

Name: Allen Gilberg on Apr 6, 2005State: UTCountry: USComments: I am a civil engineer and a guide on both the Colorado River and on the plateau, so I understand both sides of the issue. I stongly believe that using Lake Powell as a storage facility should not occur unless absolutely necessary. Please consider options that make this possible. Thank You, Allen GilbergFlag

Please don't bury this wonder unnecessarily. I witnessed the degradation of the sandstone caused by inundation, and I deeply desire that the Cathedral be protected from that.Flag

Name: Karla James on Apr 6, 2005State: CACountry: USComments: As a river runner and desert enthusiast, this area of the Southwest holds a special place in my heart. There is not a more beautiful place on earth. I run several rivers that end in the slack water of Lake Powell. The transformation from healthy river ecosystem to the death and stillness of the lake is devastating. And the up-river harm to the ecosystem is more noticeable each year, as the slowing river water causes the sand to fall out of suspension, filling up the river bank with sand, and changing the gradient of the river from it's historic 10 feet per mile to 1 foot per mile. And I'm not even talking about all the buried treasures under Lake Powell, since that area has been flooded long before I could see it. I only know of those areas through photos and stories from other river runners. I plan to visit some of Glen Canyon in the fall as the waters recede. This is such an important natural resource. Please help save this area for the present and future generations to enjoy!Flag
