Name: Graeme Busby on Sep 25, 2007Comments: The RYA need to get back in touch with what's happening outside the Olympic sailing circuit. Cat sailing is very healthy in the UK, this move does great disservice to cat sailors in the UK and undermines the RYA's authority to speak for the sport.Flag

Name: Elaine Taylor on Sep 25, 2007Comments: Please do not rule out the fun and excitement of catamaran sailing to young sailors. I did not start cat sailing until I was 40 and my husband 55 - we get such a buzz from cats and it still keeps us active 10 years on.Flag

Name: Christopher Browning on Sep 25, 2007Comments: Having been heavily involved in Cat sailing in Scotland for 10 years, I am astounded at these moves, and dismayed that no consultation process took place. The RYA is funded by its members, and it is the members that should get the opportunity to voice an opinion - at the very least - on this matterFlag

Name: Henry White on Sep 25, 2007Comments: I think it is very important that the cat is kept as part of the Isaf sailing fleet, there are many up and coming sailors in this fleet and it also gives the sailors the oppitunity to choose there own way of sailingFlag

Name: Ian Keam-George on Sep 25, 2007Comments: This submission does not have wholehearted support within the UK sailing community. One suspects that it has more to do with the lack of youth development, for cats, within the RYA.Flag

Name: Paul Mines on Sep 25, 2007Comments: I understand the RYA has recently made submissions to ISAF to remove the catamaran as a youth boat for 2009, and to remove the catamaran as an Olympic boat for 2012. These submissions by the RYA were made without any consultation with the sailing community. We request that the submissions are withdrawn before the ISAF conference in early November and replaced by alternative submissions which support the use of catamarans both in future Olympics (2012 and beyond) and for youth training.Flag

Name: Don Findlay on Sep 25, 2007Comments: I have been involved with catamarans as importer, the first for Hobie, the first for Prindle, the first for Nacra, the first for F18 for over 31 years. I have been founding Chairman of all these Associations. I am currently the Sec. General to the F18 World Council over seeing the fastest growing catamaran fleets ever seen around the world. The F18 is regarded as the "trainer" for the Olympic Tornado. I trust that the RYA will reconsider its decision, or at the very least , give an explanation of their actions.Flag

Name: Simon Morgan on Sep 25, 2007Comments: Dear Mr Carr, I see from recent correspondence that the RYA has proposed to ISAF the replacement of the multihull class with the 29er. This is ridiculous; not only does it go in the face of the two gold medals won recently by our Youth Sailors at ISAF events thus undermining all the quality work done by Brian Phipps and his squad, it also makes utterly clear to all and sundry that the RYA are not interested in multihulls at all. This is not an appropriate stance for an organisation and country that is the envy of all other sailing racing nations. Please would you ensure that this proposal is withdrawn forthwith and for the RYA to explain publicly why it believes that the multihull community should be this disenfranchsed. Yours sincerely, Simon Morgan, Former Hobie 16 National Champion, ardent supporter of multihull classes, Managing Director of Wildwind Holidays and, incidentaly, on of Tony Morgan, Silver Medallist Flying Dutchman Class 1964 Tokyo Olympics.Flag
