Sara Wolitzky | I believe Driggs and Berry could easily absorb the additional traffic and that turning Bedford into this type of public space would both preserve and enhance the neighborhood environment.

Sean Lewis | There was a time before cars, where streets weren't off limits to people. With more pedestrans than cars in this city, I wonder why all the public streets were given over to the automobiles. Why not share?

Holly Barkhymer | This is exactly what New York City needs a lot more of. Please put the pedestrians, bikers and street life ahead of automobiles for a change.

Resident | So let me ask you a question, cracker. When you say you want to ban cars on Bedford, you really only mean WHITE bedford, right? You don't care about those of us around Fulton St. I have better things to fritter away my trust fund on.

Robert Provenz | I think the car zone should be extended from South 5th Street, (under the bridge) to McCarren Park. There is too much noise pollution by the bridge and it's a residential area.

Anonymous | This is the future for cities! I've seen it in Mexico, carfree builds communities and generates more money for businesses. We have to work in cities, that's where the jobs are, but we shouldn't have to live on the sidewalks all the time. We need more places to sit and relax, especially for our older citizens and people with kids and infirmities. People should spend more time outdoors, it's healthy and fun.

Adrienne Gelfand | The area is so congested and it is dangerous to cross the street. I think this would be a really helpful idea.
