Save The Cardinal Pub The Cardinal public house, in Francis Street near Archbishops House, has been a popular meeting place for parishioners and groups from Westminster Cathedral for many years. Its walls were covered in paintings and pictures of past cardinals - including Cardinal Manning and Cardinal Hume. For some time now the building has been closed for refurbishment. When it re-opens, the owners state that it will be reverting back to its original name: The Windsor Castle. We feel this would be a great shame, as the name: The Cardinal is an important heritage of this part of London.

Seeing this momentum grow proves that I am not the only one who cherishes the history embedded in those walls. This outpouring of support shows just how much The Cardinal means to our community.

I spent so many afternoons at The Cardinal with my late uncle and I cannot bear to see its history wiped away. Let's push this past the hundred mark before we approach the owners about preserving the name.
