Name: L. Jeannine Harrelson on Jul 2, 2011Comments: I am preparing to graduate this October with my B.S. in Human Services, and I must say that social services should be an integral part of CDCR. The "R' does not really mean anything because inmates in CA prisons today are warehoused in concrete cages and receive little to no vocational or educational training. Californians can no longer afford the knee-jerk reaction to youth and first-offender crimes by locking them up and throwing away the keys!Flag

Name: Jeannine Harrelson on Nov 23, 2011Comments: We should be spending our tax dollars on education and social services, which will give more people opportunities and keep more people out of trouble! What has happened to our state? Our legislators are not listening to us and we need to make noise to raise their awareness of today's reality, not Medieval time's reality.Flag

Name: Lucia C. Acuna on Feb 26, 2012Comments: My son, Pedro Gomez Jr. has been incarcerated since 1996 for a mistaken identity murder case. Although he was just 17 years old when arrested for this crime, they postponed his court date, so that he would be 18 when he stood trial, thus, trying him as an adult, with a guilty verdict and 35 years to Life sentence. I feel if there would have been more programs for him to be involved in, he would have not ended up in prison. I commend you on your efforts to prevent the building of more prisons, (cages), and would like to be involved with your Organization, as a volunteer or spokesperson. Thank you.Flag
