Tobacco causes over 6,500 deaths in Ireland each year. Alcohol causes over 3,500 deaths in Ireland each year. Cannabis has caused exactly 0 deaths. To overdose on alcohol, it takes between 5 to 10 times the amount required to intoxicate. To overdoes on cannabis, it takes nearly 40,000 times the amount required to intoxicate. Tobacco has been shown to cause cancer, heart disease, high blood pressure, chronic hoarseness and laryngeal polyps, gum disease and premature wrinkling of skin. Alcohol has been shown to cause liver disease, cancer, diabetes and heart disease. Cannabis has been scientifically shown to help reduce the effects of many illnesses such as Alzheimer's, epilepsy, MS, glaucoma, arthritis, depression, anxiety, cancer and hepatitis c.
