You don't have to smoke or even particularly like weed to be anti prohibition. So I'm going to get straight to the point, here are the reasons for the legalisation of cannabis. 1. Alcohol is directly responsible for 6,769 deaths last year, but weed is obviously much worse oh wait I forgot no ones ever died from weed.... ever. But alcohol can be bought legitimately in lethal quantities. 2.Prohibition simply doesn't work, I'm nearly 17 and it is easier for me to get hold of a swift 8th than a 6 pack of beers why? Because of prohibition, it is seriously more difficult for me to buy papers than the actual weed! Also of the many people I know who enjoy weed only a handful have ever been caught and they all got a caution and went out to buy some more. 3.Instead of taxing weed and making money (recession, new hospitals, schools, parks ect) the money goes to the street and allot of the people who sell weed are shall we say less than desirable characters, who look for maximum profits by spraying the weed with chemicals (which are usually much more damaging than weed could ever be) to add weight. 4. medical benefits; granted the medicinal use of weed is limited but legitimate. It does help people from patients who need antioxidants to those simply in allot of pain or suffering from belimia. Is it right to deny them something which could really help them? 5. Should it not be our right to be able do something that makes us happy if it doesn't hurt others? You can make claims of indirect effects of crime it causes but would there be a black market if it was legal? Up to a certain extent yes but no more than there is for tobacco or practically anything else sold lawfully. in conclusion I'm not saying weeds for everyone but shouldn't that be the individuals decision not the states? and no it probably isn't a good idea to smoke it every day but no less than its a good idea to get drunk every day. In short I can see no reason at all why our government is denying us our rights over something that has been proven many times to be perfectly safe in moderation. And if our government is really worried about our health then they should prohibit alcohol, it kills people, has been proven addictive, destroys your liver, makes you violent in some cases. can you say any of there to be true about weed? Think if you read this having never heard of weed before wouldn't you think its madness? Well frankly I think its time we start questioning what our governments been smoking for a change don't you?
