31 LaurieFrederik MeerMD20910professor of anthropologyHasn't this silly demonstration of stubborn power gone on long enough? Cuba is not a threat and has not been since 1989 (even then, it was not Cuba, but Russia). It's time to live in the present and develop neighborly relations with Cuba. McCarthyism is long over and we should not be so afraid by the simple existence of a socialist system (nor should we ever have been). Certainly it has not affected our ongoing relationship with China... The new generation of Cubans in the USA are not the same as their parents and grandparents - they too are hoping for a new policy on Cuba. Have some courage and make the historical move that will make a difference for many thousands of American and Cuban citizens.
