Name: Heart Love! on Dec 31, 2004State: CACountry: USComments: drum for peace on jan 20. Greetings, I am writing this note to inform you of a project I am working on. "1000 Drums for Peace" On the day that the 1000th US soldier died in Bush's folly in Iraq I started thinking of ways for all progressive communities to unite, at least in spirit, in protest. Here is the plan. At the very moment the Bush begins taking his oath of office drummers and drum cricles all across the country will begin to play the same beat at the same time. United together in rhythm and protest The goal is to have Drummers for Peace in each of the every state in the union. We now have 1000 Drums for Peace Drum Circles in, Alabama, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, West Virginia, Tennessee and Texas (namely Midland Texas). There is no telling how far this could go..... Imagine, Drummers across the country all united at the same time, with the same drum beat, a drum beat for Peace, a drum beat for freedom, a drum beat against the war in Iraq, and drum against the cultural war being waged against all of our progressive communities. The event will be Jan. 20 as Bush startes his Oath of Office. He will begin with the word "I". That is when the drumming starts. The beat we will play is the heart-beat. Put your head on the chest of some one you love and play their heartbeat. We play our loved ones heart beat for peace.Flag

Name: Elliot Gold on Dec 31, 2004State: CACountry: USComments: While the Inaguration has a history of celebration of deeds done by a leader or to be done by one. This one does not meet the criteria. With thousands of innocent Iraqi citizens, children, and adults dead, and nearly 2,000 U.S. G.I.s dead for a mis-deed, I think it's best to hold the day January 20 as a day of silence, not of one of rejoyce.
