Ask Sandwell MBC to consider allowing SWEDA to remain on their existing site in Church Street, West Bromwich B70 8RP. Sandwell Council wish to demolish the current premises occupied by SWEDA to create 47 new parking spaces when the car park opposite the building is never fully utilised and the new car park for TESCO’s , NEXT etc. has not even opened and the extended car park at the end of Bratt Street is nearing completion – the building is also within short walking distance the Astle car park which again is rarely fully occupied. SWEDA has been providing support to disadvantaged individuals in the Sandwell area for over 20 years and have helped 100’s of people back into work or self-employment. SWEDA have also developed the Skills and confidence of many more local people. As the leading Social Enterprise support organisation in the area they contribute significantly to the local economy both directly and indirectly through the support given. Sandwell MBC – please allow SWEDA to remain in its current premises and cancel the proposed Car Parking change.
