Schistosomiasis is a very serious water borne illness that affects millions of people around the world, primarily in Tropical and Sub-Tropical areas. It is caused by parasites from freshwater snails in contaminated waters. Early symptoms are abdominal pain, rash , fever and chills but can later develop into more serious problems, such as heart and kidney failure and Bladder Cancer. The reason so many people are affected is because they do not have the money to afford clean water, or medication to cure their schistosomiasis.
