Lindsay Berman, Canada7 years ago Comments: It seems incomprehensible that in the year 2007, we are still trying to "negotiate" an ideological framework for women on this planet. It appears as the old addage goes "the road to hell is paved with good intentions." Why are we still trying to discuss wages, poverty, discrimination, violence, healthcare, equity, equality, safety, etc. for all the women on this planet. What need are people in power at the UN, who with sincere conviction want to see change take effect. What we need are markers of progress, what we need is new brand of consciousness to be put forth from agencies such as the UN, to educate the planet, that current realities for women are unacceptable, should not be tolerated, and then begin to find viable, realistic ways, to put in motion, advertising, to help the communities of the world recognize, there is a huge problem with a vast majority of the population on this planet, a majority who are not be respected as HUMAN, they are the women of this world.
