Name: Chris G on Apr 20, 2010Comments: they are just fat and wrong and what's with the primary colour?. It really put a dampner on the show I was really excited about daleks & spitfires and along came these obese garishly painted ugly (but not in good way) nightmares. The new cybermen have more menace these new daleks just look like cybercamels with their lumpy backs. So come one BBC we love Dr who as much as we love the BBC but can we have our classic daleks back please.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Apr 20, 2010Comments: Old daleks were a better shape. The khaki colour was quite fetching. However, several features of the new daleks are rubbish: The new bumper is too fat. The weapons box is too big. The technicolor dreamcoat would be no good in places that daleks visited in previous series. The technical specifications have not been adhered to e.g. eye protection is now behind the eye! An optic nerve of that length, from inside to the living eye, is impractical.Flag

Name: Steve Redfearn on Apr 20, 2010Comments: I think the idea of a Dalek redesign is good. It's the execution that's bad. Even the colours don't bother me THAT much (although they're silly). Some of the new ideas are fine - the eye, neck rings, skirt panel etching. BUT THE SHAPE IS RIDICULOUS - completely out of proportion. Some of the sketches on the Beeb Dr Who website would have worked a lot better. What a missed opportunity...Flag

Name: Rob Thrush on Apr 20, 2010Comments: Change is a good thing when it embaces positive moves forwards or as a way of re-energising or re-engaging. This design change does none of those things. An iconic design classic, which was tastefully and effectively updated in 2005, has been done a disservice in this new version and smacks of change made "because we can" rather than for sound reasons.Flag

Name: Adrian Tritschler on Apr 20, 2010Comments: Ugh, all I can say is Ugh. Or maybe ugg-lee. The new series of Dr Who has only seen one episode here in Australia, I hadn't realised what a mess had been made of one of the most recognisable and long lasting of the Doctor's foes.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Apr 21, 2010Comments: The "new" ones are an eyesore, an abomination, and an insult to the Ray Cusick originals. The shape is all wrong, the size is all wrong, gne is the "Napoleon complex" of the originals, gone is their menace. These are just toys- and the BBC should be ashamed- since when was it so commercially driven?Flag

Name: Paul Gilbert on Apr 21, 2010Comments: I completely agree about the Daleks resembling Mini Coopers, even down to the colour schemes. I regard this re-design as a cynical marketing ploy and I see no redeeming qualities in these new Daleks. I have watched Doctor Who since 1963 and this is the first time in my life that I have not been thrilled by the Daleks.Flag

Name: Chris Lawson on Apr 21, 2010Comments: I had such high hopes for the new series when 'The Moff' took over, his episodes of recent times have stood head and shoulders above the rest, but he seems obsessed with totally destroying everything RTD created during his resurrection of Dr Who and it just isn't working! This ridiculous new paradigm for the Daleks just beggars belief - they look hideous, not scary or intimidating... in fact they are comical. This latest series has been such a huge disappointment and I for one am totally gutted at what he's done to this iconic series. Shame on you Mr MoffettFlag

Name: Stephen George on Apr 21, 2010Comments: RTD took elements fron the old series of Dr Who, and gave them a tweak. Steven Muppet took everything from the previous incarnation, jumped on it with his size nines, threw it in the bin and replaced it with totally new versions. Tardis interior, sonic screwdriver and now the daleks. For what? To establish his position as the new guiding hand or for BBC marketing to commision a new range of toys in time for christmas?Flag
