| 751 | Ian Chapman | As Cambridge born and bred, I am disappointed that the touting has lost the relaxed elegance of punting, and also detracts from Bridge Street - to theextent that we now avoid this road due to the hassle from touts |

| 754 | Thomas Andrews | A free market is the only way to ensure the best experience for the punter (nice pun...) Independant companies need to be encouraged in all areas, especially one so integral to Cambridge's image and appeal. |
| 755 | Alex Evans | What would the monopolies comission say about this? |
| 756 | adrian mander | The council should be ashamed of themselves |
| 757 | Meg Davis-Berry | Punting is a part of Cambridge life which must not be allowed to fall into the hands of a private monopoly |

| 760 | gabriel cornish | save the the puntin history for god sake! |
| 761 | Mark Boyd | I have been greatly concerned in the manner that the council appears to using the admitted problem of over-touting as an excuse to quash competition on the river. Most of my mates have worked for Scudamores and it is well known that their instructed touting tactics are among the most aggressive often it has been recently suggested to deliberately incur a response such as this. To punish the other operators on the river seems a quixotic, unfathomable and heavy-handed response. |

| 768 | michael wray | I believe small independent punting companies would better serve Cambridge than a few large companies as
1) more of the money will remain and circulate in the local community
2) market forces will operate more effectively and bring better value for all
3) independent operators are more likely to to provide idiosyncratic and innovative services rather than a homogenised "corporate"experience. |

| 773 | simon brown | i am looking for a punting company to use and having looked at the various websites before i arrive, wil not use Scudamores.
I also think that giving one company the right for complete service is wrong for the consumer in their choice and stops entrepreneurial activity and allowing people to make a living.
There is also the monopolies commission who are set up to stop such acts taking place.
This would be extremely bad for Cambridge. |
| 774 | Anonymous | It is important that the rich history of the independant punts does not become crushed by the commercial monopoly of one company. |
| 775 | Eva Ferlez | I would like to support this petition, because it helps foster healthy competition and diversity of offer. |

| 778 | Richard Manns | To allow one company an effective monopoly will be to the detriment of all customers who wish to use a punt on the river.
The aggressive touting from Scudamore's is a severe annoyance on Bridge Street, and this is what ought to be controlled, not this crushing of the market. |

| 780 | Milos Karapandzic | Punts in Cambridge are far too expensive! City residents with proof of address should be given preferential rates by all punt operators, but particuarly the likes of Scudamores which are leveraging such high margins! |
