| 2 | Nader Khalifa | Cambridge City Council should be ashamed of their inability to realise the true facts of Cambridge Punting. Scudamores are the company pro-actively pursuing aggressive touting policies, spinning yarns in the press about the independent touts causing public annoyance.
Scudamores owns a virtual monopoly on the Cam. Their touts make up the vast majority on the river. The independents offer variation on tours, they compete on prices and they add colour and fun to Cambridge. By restricting their numbers the Council plays into Scudamores hands, rewarding their guerilla tactics and depriving variation to tourists and residents who want to enjoy the Cam and allowing Scudamores to set prices without effective competition to rein them in. |
| 3 | Paul Dootson | Scudamores Punting Company have effectively outlawed independent punting operators in Cambridge and killed off the only real competition they had (following
their buyout of Tyrrells).
I think it’s ridiculous that Scudamores have been allowed do this, clearly against the principles of fair trade. |

lots of independent ones is a far better idea!
you should be able to walk up and hale a punt down much like a taxi not herded on to a punt to suit the finacial gains of a greedy monoplising company who bully punters into which punts to use!!
I,ve witnessed a local ice cream business man having to have phisical fight with a punt sales person for interferering with his waiting cutomers!!! and although i dont know either of the two people involved i have to say the i felt sorry for the ice cream man because the punt sales person just kept on hassling customs after being ask to move on!!!! typical of the attitide these punts sales peopla have!!!! i,m actually suprised they dont get punched more ofen!!
take away these greedy bully companys for good!
they behave like they own the river |

| 10 | Dan Schofield | We offer a much more professional service than Scudamores who will employ just about anyone to take tours. Tourists want presentable and well spoken tour guides, not "chavs", which Scudamores have started to employ in an attempt to force us out. |

| 15 | Anonymous | Scudamores virtual monopoly of punt tours is not acceptable.
More needs to be done to support fair competition and provide Cambridge residents and vistors with a choice |

| 17 | Jack Cosh | I am in full support of the independent punt operators and am amazed the council would let one company have almost complete monopoly over those that wish to be taken on the river - something fishy going on? |

| 38 | David Pollitt | I will gladly sign this petition, I
have friends who have worked on the river and have been phyisicaly threatened by Scuduamores. They are a bunch of crooks who operate in a mafia like fashion. This sounds over the top but I'm afraid it's true. |
| 39 | Michael Connors | the actions of the Cambridge City Council in my eyes have not given fair treatment to the independent punt commnity. Many of the actions taken in research of the subject by the council have taken no accont of the punt operators, but instead have been shaped about the objections from the monopoly that is Scudamores, an ssue that seems to be continuously overlooked. |

| 43 | Ben Cox | its such a shame when big corps kick out the independent buisinesses using sly and underhand tactics like this. I for one really hope this petition makes the council overturn there crass decision. |
| 44 | Matt P | It's outrageous to ban those who have been working on the river for many, many years. Simply because a big company has moved in. Everyone deserves an equal opportunity. |
