Name: William M Steinhardt on Nov 19, 2012Comments: The recording studio was incredibly helpful to a significant group of students' happiness and mental health at Caltech. This is also a group of people whose main outlet for stress is found in music and the recording studio, while perhaps only used by a small group of students, is, I believe, vital to their sustained happiness while at Caltech. I also believe the recording studio is poorly publicized and would be used more widely if more people know about it. Former Ricketts President Will SteinhardtFlag

Name: Tom LaTourrette on Nov 19, 2012Comments: The rehearsal studio, and the instrumental music program overall, is an absolutely wonderful resource for Caltech. It was an essential part of my life during grad school 20 years ago and I still use the studio with Caltech folks and alums to this day. Bill Bing is a treasure and his efforts add tremendous vitality and diversity to Caltech. Please consider the value that the studio and music program provide and keep the studio as part of the new center.Flag

Name: Jeffrey Thompson on Nov 19, 2012Comments: The studio is a wonderful facility, and should not be closed down. Myself and the other members of the Slide Rule Trombone Choir have used the studio on numerous occasions to record music that we have worked on, and without the on-campus studio, this would not be possible due to the high cost of renting a professional recording studio.Flag

Name: Chris Chen on Nov 19, 2012Comments: The recording studio is a valuable and unique resource here at Caltech that serves a broad section of the community interested in instrumental and vocal music. To do away with it would eliminate one of the easily accessible venues for small groups to practice (and certainly the only well equipped recording venue) on campus.Flag
