SB 72 Chapter 8 Statutes changes to CalWorks Programs are wrong. DPSS refers to recipients as customers and the organization as a whole seem to think that "management knows better than the customers". Families on Social Security Benefits and CalWorks Programs are given bare bones minimums already, making living on the street an impending danger in a State that has the highest transient communities in the Country . These changes earmarked for July 1, 2011, intend to ratify the current CALWORKS structure for the worst. Based on the current economic conditions and/or physical disabilities family members will have to compete for minimal job availability. The measures are also anti-children. Forcing parents in poverty to be separated even more substantially from children with less to offer children financially from their middle and upper-class counter parts. At the very least children should be able to spend quality and quantitative time with family. Daycare programs are becoming just as over-crowded as schools and we have already seen the issues related to that in the problems with public schools. Children forced into daycare will get sick more often causing parents that are barely holding on to jobs to stay home from work or pay a baby sitter. License exempt caregivers are also intended to be penalized by these intended measures. STOP THE INSANITY! Cut wasteful programs, not humane programs. Governor Gerry Brown should know better, Democrats helped to create the welfare system. The customer is always right!
