Name: Jackie H. on Jun 25, 2010Comments: I am in the North West of Calgary and would like to have a few chickens in my backyard. I would set their coop above a worm bin so that their waste (plus the vegies, etc.) that fell through the mesh and be cleaned up by the worms. We would produce far less waste, eat fresh eggs and have worm castings for the garden. In these days of promoting eating locally and taking better care of our planet, having the City of Calgary standing in the way of backyard chicken coops seems more than a little ridiculous.Flag

Name: KC Vidal on Nov 7, 2011Comments: I would really like to have a few chickens in my back yard. I want to know that at least one thing I am eating is fresh and was treated ethically. My grandfather had chickens and as long as the coop was regularily cleaned out they never smelled. He did not have a rooster so they were quiet too. I also want my children to have the advantage of knowing where their food came from and learn responsibility with helping with their upkeep. It will also help to save my family money and limit what goes in the land fill (most of what we throw out is food waste which is eaten by chickens).Flag
