Byrne Dairy is attempting to build the Largest store they have ever built in the Hamlet of LaFayette NY...

Please read just some reasons it is totally not needed below:

* 1. I am a resident of LaFayette and my concern is that the parcel of land in question is being sold to build a Byrne Dairy Store and are planning on sharing driveway with McDonalds...

* 2. Byrne Dairy representatives continue to refer to themselves as a grocery store in the meetings ....However... in all of their employment ads they refer to themselves as a "Convenient Store" which they are... This bothers me because it is very misleading and confuses the public. For example I would not go grocery shopping at a GROCERY STORE and buy (1) banana for 49 cents...

* 3. Question: Why does this hamlet of LaFayette need 2 convenience stores???? If the Nice N Easy goes out of business, what then? Just another empty building on Rt 11...

* 4. I have actually sat in McDonalds parking lot facing route 20 and watched the tractor trailers pull in and out. An example of them pulling out of McDonalds driveway is them shifting 3 times before the cab even reaches the entrance ramp to rt81 south. It takes approx 5-6 seconds for this to occur. A vehicle traveling at 55mph travels 80feet per second (that is well over a football field). If a truck begins to pull out of the driveway just as a vehicle is cresting the hill on route 20 heading east, the truck is completely across rt20 and blocking the whole road . The vehicle at this point has no where to go but to stop or even worse attempt to go around truck. By the way the vehicle is traveling down a steep grade at this point. Can you picture this? (I know you can)

* 5. Byrne Dairy reps themselves claim there is no way they can prevent Overnite stays. Tell me... what resident of LaFayette could possibly think this is good for the community? They are going to cater to truck drivers using diesel fuel...

* 6. IN MY OPINION, and the opinion of many others, IF Byrne Dairy is allowed to put the Largest convenience store in their fleet in LaFayette, it will be with complete DISREGARD for the safety of the residents as well as the travelers in our community.
