This is an online petition set up by www.facebook.com/helpingotherscharity. We raise awareness about charities and help raise funds in different ways by collecting mobile phones, donations, car boot sales, cake sales and street collections to name just a few.

We were outraged when we heard Richard Dawkins comments in relation to a baby with Down Syndrome. He claims mothers that are pregnant with a child that has Down Syndrome that life expectancy is reduced and if he were in the position would have an abortion, He claims most parents opt for abortion and that most doctors recommend abortion - I dont believe this is entirely through as I know more parents that went ahead with the pregnancy even though they knew there child would have Down Syndrome. He claims the moral and sensible thing to do is to abort the pregnancy - This is a complete load of rubbish, I find that children and adults that have Down Syndrome bring a lot of love to familes and to everyone they meet. Children and adults with Down syndrome can live full and rewarding lives, are loved by their families and friends, and make a valuable contribution to our society every day. He obviously knows nobody with Down Syndrome and hasn't spent any time getting to know people with Down Syndrome. He would be much better spending his time getting to know children and adults with Down Syndrome rather than talking about abortion in relation to expecting mothers of children with Down Syndrome.

There has been about of talk and discussion about this since he sent the tweet and I am sure he will apologize eventually. I don't believe an apology is going far enough for someone that is supposed to be as educated as he is. I am calling for people to boycott all his seminars, speeches and to refrain from buying anything that will give him financial gain. I feel he should spend time getting to know both children and adults with Down Syndrome and see how beautiful, loving and honest they are. I am asking all my friends, family and social media friends to support my petition. Even if this petition only makes people aware of Down syndrome I will be very happy.
