Petition for Change in the Baldwin - Whitehall School District Grading System
We the undersigned, comprised of students, parents and residents of the communities of Baldwin Borough, Baldwin Township and Whitehall, are in support of the Baldwin Whitehall School District amending its grading system in order to reflect a more accurate measurement of student studies. We feel the current grading system that measures a grade of "A" 93 -100%, a grade of "B" 83-92%, and a grade of "C"70-82%, is in conflict with other school districts, colleges and universities in the way in which the students are graded.
We feel a positive public expression against the current grading system and support shown for what we believe is the generally accepted standard of grading utilized by nearly all other schools that measures an "Aâ 90- 100%, a "B" 80 - 89%, and a "C" 70-79% will help all students-achieve an analysis of their achievements that is commensurate with their peers. We are in favor of high standards but we do not believe this should be achieved through the grading scale independently.
We understand this petition for change is subject to official approval by the B-W School Board. We hope that all students will enjoy the benefits of an accurate grading system that will aid them in post high school admissions, scholarships and employment references. We are asking all our elected Board Members and School Administrators to help make this a reality. By signing, we give permission to have our support made public via both the print media and/or television coverage.
