Comments: Local retailers will suffer and even more shops will be forced to close ripping the heart out of the community.

Comments: Shops on high strees are already suffering due to on line banking and lack of money, this will only reduce the number of people on the high street and eventually lose more jobs

Comments: I don't shop in Shenfield for more than an hour at a time (there aren't that many shops!). The new parking rates are penalising short stay Parkers.

Comments: The council are doing nothing proactive to help Brentwood residents, or businesses. Introducing 30 minutes free parking would at least encourage people to visit Brentwood High St. You never know, they might stay long enough to pay for parking!

Comments: I have seen other stories that other councils are doing a Free after Three promotion and it is supposed to be very sucessful according to those traders in these areas. All I see in Brentwood is greed by the present party.... Totally unacceptable. This will make residents shop else where..

Comments: I work in shenfield and have lost count of the number of people complaining about this. The majority of people are popping into shenfield for post office, dry cleaning, bread and milk etc. They don't want to pay and stay for two hours!

Comments: I suggested at Council that an Automatic Number Plate Recogniotion system was introduced at Brentwood car parks. This would allow both local residents and people working in Brentwood to have a preferential parking rate plus the night time ecomony could be charged more to offset the massive street cleaning bill on a Friday and Saturday evening. I was told the system would be too expensive but machines, tickets and wardens would be a thing of the past!

Comments: The Council should not have removed the 1 hour parking rate of 60p for residents, this is not encouraging people to shop in Brentwood. Better they concentrate on the problem of removing litter.

Comments: I cannot understand why Brentwood Council keep introducing policies that are destroying our High Street when things are already hard enough due to the financial climate, excessive parking charges just make shoppers go to Lakeside where it is free as they resent paying parking

Comments: With parking charges like those in Brentwood, it's no wonder people are preferring to go to Basildon, Romford, Chelmsford or Lakeside. If you reduce parking charges and encourage businesses to open shops in Brentwood, Brentwood Borough Council will get far more money than by stupidly high parking charges
