Name: Terri Shepherd on Mar 1, 2013Comments: Brentwood has too many bars and restaurants as it is, what is needed are more 'quality' shops to bring people back to the town, alongside independent shops - hiking the parking prices is not going to do anything to encourage locals/visitors to visit and will only further create congestion in the Sainsburys car park, which does have a 30 minute free stay, together longer car parking fee refunded if they shop in store. Perhaps other stores could be persuaded to participate in a similar scheme. What a waste of tax payers money in 2010 - are these machines being recycled or sold on??Flag

Name: K Gough on Mar 2, 2013Comments: I think the abolition of a 1 hour rate for parking is wrong as this is generally the right amount of time for a "quick" shop. Half hour is too short and two hours is longer than is generally needed.Flag

Name: Jennifer Stuckey on Mar 8, 2013Comments: I am a resident and also run a small business, I have to go to the bank every day in Brentwood and need to park for approx 10mins each day. total cost £6.50 per week, How can an increase of over 50% be justified.? Also the old parking machines in Vaughn William Way car park were more than adequate, they were conveniently placed with plenty of them .new ones are placed in positions that mean a treck across the car park to pay then back again to display ticket, just not enough for the size of the car park. I will be looking for alternative options.Flag

Name: Nicole Louise Davey (nee Colyer) on Mar 8, 2013Comments: I think the charges are absolutely disgraceful. To raise the cost 117% is appalling. This will affect the amount of trips I make into Brentwood of a lunchtime which is generally 3/4 times a week. Thus in turn will affect the amount I spend in the shops, when I'm just popping out to for a Sandwich and come back with 2 bags of shopping. This in turn will affect Brentwood trade and shops will start closing down again. At this point you will then start spending money on trying to improve image of the town to encourage people to come back into Brentwood to shop again. This is a ridiculous idea and clearly it is all about the short term gain to pay for the new machines, which were only installed because the others were completely useless, and I see no thought whatsoever being given to the Brentwood residents or locally workers who keep Brentwood High up running and buzzing! The original prices should be reinstated. We should not be penalised for Brentwood Councils decision to use a company who make incompetent car parking payment machines.Flag
