Name: Dr Randolph Bowers on Mar 1, 2009Comments: How an international company could own outright such a vast territory, engage in ecological genocide through clear cutting for so long, and then after making billions of dollars of profit from this exploitation, presume to sell Nova Scotia to the highest bidder, is a crime against ecology and social well being. This is a crime against humanity in the worst way. I drove through the clear cuts south of Bear River - it stretches for MILES! It is the most disgusting ecological disaster I have ever seen in Canada, especially because it was done with full conscience without regard for any other purpose than pure economic short-term gain. Selfish. Morally corrupt. And ought to be tried in the highest court, and Irving Oil should be held accountable, and they should have to GIVE the land back to the People of Nova Scotia. And this land should be put under strict environmental protection and covenant for future generations. Irving Oil should be made to pay for this regeneration of this land for the next three hundred years - just about the time it takes for a forest to grow into a fairly youthful old growth stand.Flag

Name: Noreen Miller on Mar 1, 2009Comments: This is totally unacceptable, the province had absolutely no plan to make this sale public and Irving only advertised it in the Chronile Herald Yesterday after Mary Kieth their spokesperson was cornered by the media. Thank goodness for a few trails folks, environmental watchdogs and canoers or we would have been finding out about our new neighbors in the paper after the fact.Flag
