Name: Barry Mitchell on Mar 1, 2009Comments: The purchase of this property by the Government could become a good investment; utilize/develop it into a multi-use park which in turn would bring revenue to the province; great place for a closed course to develop young riders. This could be possible by working with all interested groups to assist; also make good use of the OHV Funding.Flag

Name: John Leefe on Mar 1, 2009Comments: The Irving lands (much of which were purchased from Bowater Mersey several years ago) are offered for sale when the market should be attractive to the purchaser. These lands lie within the UNESCO Southwest Nova Biosphere which promotes cooperative multi-use including wood fibre harvesting to recreation to protection of sensitive lands and everything in between. Considering the continuing contractual obligations of the Department of Natural Resources to the forestry sector and the determination by government to protect the environment, there is every reason for the Crown to give serious consideration to acquisition. The policy and regulations for harvesting on Crown Land are significantly more stringent that for non-Crown so that a strong level of protection would be provided as a consequence of Crown purchase. I have no doubt the department is giving serious consideration to this singular opportunity. All interested parties should encourage our government to do so aggressivley.Flag

Name: Roseanne Blades on Mar 1, 2009Comments: I would rather the province assist with securing this land than some other things they have/are doing with my tax dollars. Somehow keeoing our land for ourselves seems to be a no brainer. I hope someone in government agrees. Shame on the Irvings, again.Flag

Name: Linda MacDonald on Mar 1, 2009Comments: Nova Scotians need Nova Scotia for us, not strangers. Our province needs protection and proper management by us so it can be a sustainable resource that allows us to enjoy the outdoors with fun activities while making sure critcal areas are protected when necessary. We need to have a say in what happens to our province, not people who may not even liver here most of the year. Recreational land is a necessity to live and have fun in our own province. We need to buy this land back!Flag
