Comments: Please do not move the library. It is better to have all the science books together in one place without having them get lost in Irwin.

Comments: I never study in Irwin Library because of the loud water noise. I do not like the set up and it is often difficult to find a table. Furthermore, I like the setup of the Science Library and convenience of its close proximity to the Pharmacy Building (my major is Physician Assistant). It is often difficult to find a study table in the Irwin Library already - what would cramming more students into one place do? Thank you for reading this.

Comments: Irwin to me is a library for group work. If we move the Lilly library to Irwin, we lose a critical thinking area that fosters and is used by the best, most efficient minds on campus.

Comments: I love studying at the Science Library. And Barb the librarian is amazing at helping me find the reference books I need and help get interlibrary loans. She also cares about the quality of the information of her books. When choosing between 2 books once, she was able to tell me which one other students had recommended to her. Loss of Barb or the Science Library would be a detriment to students, especially those in the sciences in the same way that loss of Irwin would be a detriment to students in liberal arts. Combining the 2 libraries will hurt all students and should not be considered. Economic recession is temporary, losing a library and study area for students is not.

Comments: Certainly we can come to some type of compromise on this issue. It's not about where the books are housed- few would object to moving the books from the stacks on the first floor of the science library over to Irwin... However, moving the science librarians, the primary literature, and eliminating this study space is a poor decision on so many levels. It is niave to believe that the quality of library services and utilization of library facilities would not drastically decline with total consolidation. Maybe it's time to take a step back and focus on why we are all here...and remember that the students pay all of our paychecks, faculty and administration alike. What's best for the students should be one of, if not the most important consideration when making this decsion. Consolidation of all aspects of library services is simply not in anyone's best interest. Please consider all sides of this issue, listen to legitamite student and faculty concerns, and truly understand how this consolidation would impact not just "the sciences" but a huge portion of the Butler community, before making any final decision on consolidation.

Comments: I wonder if the people who proposed replacing the Science Library with "space for students to freely congregate" have ever been to the Science Library. The only time students don't congregate there is when the building is closed!
