Comments: Please reconsider other options for space planning and allow the Science Library to remain in Holcomb where it serves the needs of students and faculty.

Comments: For 30+ years the SCIENCE library has served the scientific disciplines at Butler in an exemplary fashion. The librarians have been invaluable to my research, as well as my teaching, in the last 30 years. To move it to Irwin would undoubtedly result in a loss of expertise (face it, Irwin librarians know nothing about how science is conducted and the literature sources that we need) as well as the loss of a significant amount of the holdings within the collection. Everyone that has ever interviewed for a science faculty position at Butler was impressed with the centrality of a science library and librarians to the science fields in Gallahue and the Pharmacy building. This would be a big mistake and in my opinion, has not been well thought out.

Comments: The science library, in its present form, is an incredibly valuable resource staffed by amazingly talented people. To dismantle such a resource would be a huge mistake.

Comments: The science library allows for a quiet learning environment away from the noise of fountains or frequent tours. It is conveniently located, so kids may not need leave the building in the winter or they can stop in to study between classes without walking away from all the academic buildings over to irwin. The students want the science library to stay, and we are what makes this institution what it is and it should not be taken from us.

Comments: The science library has provided such an important place for me to study during my four years at Butler. Irwin library is nice, but tends to get very noisy with the fountain, and people tend to talk very freely there, and I really couldn't stand to study there very long. I can't imagine not having the current science library location moved to Irwin. It really has been invaluable to the effectiveness of my studying, and I doubt my grades would be so high without it. I'm graduating, but please keep it where it is for future students! They deserve a nice place to study too.

Comments: Please keep the library and the staff in its current location. The convenience and ease of use far outweigh the possible gain of a open area for students detailed in the master plan. I would suggest the libary already serves that function anyway. It is a GREAT resource where it is!

Comments: The location and the services provided by the Science Library are ideal to the needs of the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and the science departments in Gallahue. There is little to gain from moving the Science Library to Irwin where it will be inconvenient to those who need it and, ultimately, will become a little-used facility without a librarian specifically dedicated to the unique needs of the faculty and students who need it. Please don't move the Science Library and please don't take from us a librarian who has become integral to much of the work being done in the respective departments.
