Name: Jane A. Stevens, Esq. on Mar 1, 2010Name (Please do NOT choose to display your name anonymously): Jane A. Stevens, Class of '99Comments: Looks like I'm showing up a little late to this party, but I do want to voice my overwhelming support for the free exchange of ideas including those that are unpopular and/or controversial. Butler owes a lot of people apologies for its conduct with respect to expressions of ideas and opinions over the past several years. But, it hit a new low with this one. I'm disgusted. Who's handling Zimmerman's Malicious Prosecution suit against Butler?Flag

Name: Susan McGuire on Mar 2, 2010Name (Please do NOT choose to display your name anonymously): Susan McGuireComments: The more that I learn about this scandal the more appalled I am. Jess is graduating and going on to what promises to be a brilliant career. I am very concerned about our current students at Butler and the fear that has been instilled in them by the administration. Thank you to Bill Watts for keeping this before us. He is not only our "resident dissident" but our conscience.Flag

What's really concerning is that a university is involved in stifling free speech! Until there is a federal law specifically prohibiting these types of suits, speech is NOT free in this country!Flag

I'm glad someone out there recognized that the administration there is far from perfect. I'm very sad to hear that they are just as power hungry as anyone else. So much for higher education and free speech.Flag

Name: Marushka Grogan on May 1, 2011Name (Please do NOT choose to display your name anonymously): Marushka GroganComments: I''m local to the Indy area, and have always see Butler University in a positive light as a cultural institution of higher education. If it is no longer acceptable to Butler to allow for freedom of expression, particularly on the public-created forum of the internet, I cannot continue to support Butler University or support young people in applying to this institution. I can only hope, for the sake of Butler's cultural contributions to the Indianapolis area, that the administration will re-think and retract their position against Mr. Zimmerman.Flag
