The Petition

This petition is intended for the 12th and 18th Ohio Congressional Districts to support H.Res.635. Regardless of who sits in either seats within the next few years, they must act.

Newark City Council told me to start a petition that’ll urge immediate congressional action on this matter.

H.Res.635 says the following:

\"Creating a select committee to investigate the Administration\'s intent to go to war before congressional authorization, manipulation of pre-war intelligence, encouraging and countenancing torture, retaliating against critics, and to make recommendations regarding grounds for possible impeachment.\"

This is the case I made on Xanga:

\"Why impeach (Bush) The Constitution says so:

1. SIGNING STATEMENTS

a) Article I, Section 7; “(Bill’s shall) be presented to the President…; sign it (approval), … return it (disapproval).” (Bush’s) “Signing Statements” violate this requirement, because vetoing a disliked bill is law, because Congress then has an opportunity to reexamine and try again. (Bush) uses “signing statements” to interpret the laws to “change” their meaning. (And has done so over 750 times)

b) Article I, Section 1; “All legislative Powers … shall be vested in … Congress” and Section 8 “Congress shall …make all Laws”

Article II, Section 1;

“(The President’s oath) \'I do solemnly swear … that (I’ll) faithfully execute the Office of President…, and will…, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution.”

Article VI; “This Constitution, ... the Laws … and all Treaties made …(are) the supreme Law of the Land. – all executive…Officers, …shall be bound … to support this Constitution.”

(Bush) violates the Constitution when he disobeys laws protected by it. With Treaties (Article II, Section 2 “(The President) shall have Power, …with …the Senate, to make Treaties, provided 2/3rd of the Senators …concur”); (Bush) has pulled out of a number of Cold War Era treaties without congressional approval.

2. WAR

a) Article I, Section 8; “The Congress shall declare War…” The “Authorization to use force against Iraq” bill was unconstitutional, as was (Bush)’s actions in playing a part in this illegal scheme. (Bush)’s war in Iraq is unconstitutional because Congress didn’t DECLARE WAR against Iraq, Congress illegally gave (Bush) authority to use force whenever he thought necessary.

3. Obligation to Impeach :
Article II, Section 4; “The (Executive) Officers, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.”

(Bush) isn’t only guilty of disobeying the Laws that Congress passes, and disobeying the Constitution (which can be seen as High Crimes), but he is also guilty of Treason and of Bribery (paying media members to spread his campaign messages).

4. TREASON

a) Article III, Section 3;

“Treason… shall consist …(of) adhering to (our) Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort.”

(Bush) and Company authorized (for political revenge) the unveiling of Valerie Plame’s (a CIA Operative) Identity while she was on a mission surveying the proliferation of weapons involving Iran.

5. First Amendment

“Congress shall make no law…prohibiting the free exercise (of religion); or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

a) (Bush) calls for a “Marriage Protection Amendment” obviously in violation of free religious expression.

b) (Bush) suppressed the right to assemble and speak out against the government. Federal Agencies have targeted activists as “suspected terrorists”. Americans have been removed from tax payer functions for having a different opinion, and “free speech zones” have been created.

c) (Bush) violation of a free press ranges from bribing media members - to spread his propaganda both during the build up for war and during his run for office - to appointing members of the media to Cabinet positions, more than likely as a reward for their loyalty.

6. Spying

“The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”

a) (Bush) has repeatedly violated this law with the “war on terror” as his justification. Spying on our Bank Transactions and communications, there’s no warrant to look into these private “paper and effects”. Recent proposals would still lead to law breaking when it comes to defining what is sought, because they seek a “warrant” that doesn’t specify what will be seized.

7. Fifth Amendment

“No person shall … be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law”

a) On many occasions, (Bush) has allowed Muslim citizens to be arrested without due process simply because they appear to be a “terrorist suspect”.

8. Sixth Amendment

“In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy … a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury ….and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have … Counsel for his defence.”

a) …(Bush’s Administration) has imprisoned many Muslims and so-called “enemy combatants” and has sent them to military tribunals…many were held without charges, counsel, public oversight, and witnesses against or for them!

9. Torture

“Excessive …fines (shall not be) imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.”

a)…(Bush)’s Torture Memos violate this.

I couldn\'t fit the links on here, so to get information; request it on my site by emailing me:
