This petition is only for residents of Newark, Ohio. The goal of this petition is to encourage Newark City Council to pass a resolution that will urge Congressmen Pat Tiberi and Bob Ney to support or co-sponsor H.Res.635 which calls for a select committee to investigate impeachable offenses; in other words, if they find that Bush is guilty of these offenses, then Impeachment is the logical next step.
The Bush Administration has been breaking the law since they were sworn in to office in 2001. More Corrupt than Nixon, Hoover and Hayes combined. Read the following letter that I sent to the editor of the Advocate:
\"When a man takes the oath of office, he/she swears to protect and defend the Constitution of this great nation. How are they supposed to honor that oath when they spend their tenure in office acting as if the law of the land is a figment of their imagination
From the Patriot Act, to the illegal war in Iraq; from Valerie Plame to this spy program; this administration has tainted the Executive Branch worse than what we know about Richard Milhouse Nixons time in office. Im not only demanding an inquiry and investigation into this domesic surveillance program, I am taking it one step further.
If Republicans can Impeach President Andrew Johnson for firing a member of his administration in violation of an unconstitutional Republican law that he wouldve vetoed anyway; and if they can impeach President Bill Clinton for having and lying about an extramarital affair; THEN HOW MUCH MORE WILL IT TAKE TO IMPEACH GEORGE WALKER BUSH! How many more Americans have to die or be spied on illegally before Congress acts How many constitutional laws must be broken How many lies must be told by this regime If this had been Bill Clinton committing all of these atrocities, the Republican congress wouldve done sacrificed him to the gods by now.
Do you realize that unveiling the name of a covert agent especially in wartime is TREASON!! Treason is considered to be a crime punishable by death; what will this group of thugs receive As an American, Im concerned for my family and fellow countrymen, and I pray that this madness ends soon. As a Christian, I shun this regime for its hypocritical and vile nature, and as a human being; I DEMAND JUSTICE! If Congress does not act on these demands, then they will have failed us, and will have shown that they are no better than the authoritarian dictators that our men and women have died fighting to defeat in the past 230 years of our nations existence!
Thomas Jefferson once said: rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add within the limits of the law, because law is often but the tyrants will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual. I ask all members of government at all levels this; when you hear or read that Jefferson quote and think about the actions of this administration; what do you believe should be done\"
Honestly pay attention to that last part there. The \"law is often the tyrant\'s will\". That rings a few bells when we look at the policies of this administration in the past five years. They have made a living changing laws to best suit their agenda. I think it\'s time that we put a stop to it.
Remember, each of these men and women in government are public servants. They serve us, and we have the power to take them out of office. Think about the future of our country and your children/grandchildren. This is urgent.
One last thought that I want to leave you with is a saying: \"There are two kinds of bad people; those who do bad things and those who see bad things happen and do nothing about it.\" Don\'t let our servants in Congress get away with doing nothing, because if they don\'t act; then they are just as guilty - if not more so - as Bush for all the atrocities at hand.
