My name is Lynzi Swartz and I am a freshman in Binghamton University and I live in Hinman. I am writing because there is a need to have a bus run everyday from Hinman to C4 and the East gym. There is a need for this daily bus service to ensure the health and safety of all students, particularly the female students during the day and especially every night when it is dark out. I believe that this bus service is necessary because the weather is getting much colder and many students do not want to risk getting sick walking back and fourth from the gym and C4. Additionally, as winter approaches, it becomes darker much earlier. This causes many students to feel unsafe, particularly females, when walking back and fourth from the east gym or c4 to their dorms in Hinman. Furthermore, the walk from Hinman to the East gym is a half mile, and many students believe that there time is wasted when walking back and fourth from the gym. Freshman are not allowed to have cars which makes it difficult for them to conserve time. The thirty minutes that students normally take to walk back and fourth from the gym, (fifteen minutes each way) can be used for students to work on their schoolwork. As a result, I have asked fellow Binghamton University students to sign this petition in support of this bus service.
