Comments: Burntwood has a high population of people who do not have access to motor vehicle. This tip is essential to those who cannot move their waste to alternate sites.

Comments: We agree totally, its a disgrace that yet again Lichfield is priorty. What about our council tax we pay? When people start fly tipping and dumping rubbish all over the place we'll know who to blame. Come on councillors we've just had an election support your voters !!!!!!! or you might not be so lucky to be voted IN next time. Come on people of Burntwood stand up and be counted, we need our local tip and need to show Lichfield that there is life outside the City.

Comments: The closure of this facility is a poorly thought out measure that will not achieve the saving the Council projects. The facility at Cannock may not be far away in distance but often has a 10 to 15 minute queue at the entrance. This will be enough to discourage many people from recycling, increase the fuel and time cost for those that do and dramatically increase fly-tipping. Fly-tipping is already a big problem costing the council tens to hundreds of thousands and the increase could easily swallow up any projected saving.

Comments: Is it really economic in the long term because people will not wait in the extended queues at Cannock and will try to find other ways of getting rid of their rubbish. The money that will be needed to fund fly tipping etc., would far exceed that which is required to keep our tip open. As usual, Councils only interested in the short term and don't take into effect of their short-sighted decisions.

Comments: Yet again Burntwood is to be the loser in comparison to Lichfield. We seem to be the forgotton town when it comes to having any money spent to make our lives better by upgrading our amenities. If the Burntwood Recycling Centre needs money spent to upgrade it then do so, as the population of Burntwood is now growing at an all time high and waste will just increase. I thought the aim was to reduce the carbon footprint for each and everyone of us!! Who wants to queue in traffic wasting fuel and time when you can drive straight into the Burntwood site. Fly tipping will certainly increase because if you drive past the Burntwood site on Wed. and Thurs. when it is closed (which was yet another senseless idea) people just leave whatever waste they have gone to the trouble of taking outside the closed gates. The powers that be, who sit in their ivory towers need to live in the real world and get out there and see what Joe Bloggs wants and deservedly needs. I really do wonder what we pay our Council Tax for, it always feel as if it is for the benefit of Lichfield and money can be wasted there left, right and centre to the detriment of Burntwood. The new paving for the Market Square etc. is just one fine example.

Comments: Our local Burntwood tip is a valuable resource that enables people to dispose of many items safely. Nowadays we are all encouraged to care for the environment and the tip helps people to do this by giving them a local place to take their rubbish. I think it is irresponsible of the county council to take away this facility.

Comments: The Burntwood tip provides a valuable service to local residents. I pay over £2000 p.a. in Council tax and I feel that of the services provided by the Council it is the one which provides the most personal benefit. I am sure that everyone appreciates that in the current economic climate some services will be reduced or eliminated. But surely the cuts do not start with a front line service from which a substantial number of the local community derive benefit. Over recent years the Council has boasted about its green credentials and its improving record on recycling waste. Suddenly it is prepared to abandon this cause with a tip closure which will force thousands of responsible residents to undertake a 10 mile round trip to their nearest recycling centre. In aggregate this will amount to thousands of miles of travel adding to traffic congestion and to hell with the environment. Of course, the less responsible residents will do their bit and see the Council's policy as an incitement for fly tipping.

Comments: As we're getting older and having to watch our petrol costs , it will be even more essential to have a local tip, we went up there this week and there were so manyu people there we couldn't understand why it would thought feasible to close it ????

Comments: This is a backward step for our town, our Councillors are all united against this and we must all give them our support. " Stafford " says that our facility is small, - so their answer is to close it.? How can we expect people to recycle more if the capacity to do so is removed, or made more difficult to reach.?

Comments: The entrance to the Cannock tip is off an island, there is already a hazard with standing traffic at busy times. Forcing a few thousand more people to use this tip will only add to the problem. Do these councilers ever carry out proper surveys before they go blindly ahead making decisions.

Comments: Closing this tip will only increase more fly tipping, like we had in the 1980s, with numerous sacks of rubbish dumped around the lanes of Burntwood. Then at more expense to the ratepayer the council had to go round and clean the mess up!! Will they never learn.

Comments: In order for us to dispose of our rubbish from 5th July, we will be expected to travel through either Lichfield City Centre or clog up the already extremely busy roads on route to Cannock. The tip more than earns it keep as it were ~ it's just another case of Burntwood being the 'poor relation'. What's next? Another sarcastic and rude comment about geting our own tip like the reference to getting our own lights at Christmas that was made last year??

Comments: Please could you have a serious re-think regarding the closure. Keeping it open must be more cost effective all round. It is always busy so to close it really sounds like a mistake that may be regretted in the future.
