Name: Ken McDonald on Dec 15, 2009Comments: Mr. Burke: I hope that when the vote occurs on the sale of NB Power, that you will vote with the best interests of New Brunswick in mind. I can see no benefit in selling NB Power to Hydro Quebec. I urge you to vote against the sale. ThanksFlag

Please do us and yourself the honour of distancing yourself publicly from your party's incompetent leadership over the Hydro-Quebec fiasco, say you are in favour of New Brunswick forging a promising energy partnership with our fellow Maritimers in NL, NS and PEI, and get yourself re-elected next fall. Name: Marge Zimmerman on Dec 16, 2009Comments: I am totally against the sale of NB Power without the consent of the majority of New Brunswick residents. If Hydro Quebec can make a profit off NB Power, then why can't New Brunswick? I don't feel a decision of this magnitude should ever have been considered without the opinion of the residents of New Brunswick. In all my discussions with friends and co-workers regarding this deal, not one of them has been in agreement for a number of very valid reasons. This deal needs to be stopped. The discussions I have been engaged in regarding this topic have indicated to me that no one will vote Liberal in the future election if this deal goes through.Flag

Name: Clint Chaulk on Dec 19, 2009Comments: NB Power is not for sale. Why sell off the most important resource this province has and hand it to another province. Remember what happen to Newfoundland....Do not make the same error. They have learned from their mistakes, do not put this province through the same unnecessary complications.Flag

Name: Richard Buchanan on Dec 21, 2009Comments: I as a native New Brunswicker, do not want N. B. Power sold - I'd be willing to pay higher power rates before seeing N. B. Power sold to any out of Province concern. I truely believe that this government has lost the trust of the people of New Brunswick. The people should have a voice, you the elected representative must speak for the people which elected you, not blindly following a party which does not wish to represent the majority. It is time for you to speak for the people in your riding. I think it is time to read and listen to this qoute - ( "Leadership is based on inspiration, not domination; on cooperation, not intimidation" - William Arther Ward )Flag

Name: Ralph Elliott on Dec 21, 2009Comments: Having faced the electorate the last time on the basis of not selling NB Power, the onus is now on the Graham Government to face the electorate on the basis of their reversal of this major & irrevocable decision (one in which they have admitted that it was them that approached the Quebec Government, and not the other way around). I suggest that the terms of the proposed Contract must be made known to the public a minimum of 60 days before the election, but it must not be signed until the public have endorsed it by re-election of the Graham Government. If NB's ownership of NB Power was important enough to be elected on, then sale of it must certainly be of at least equal importance.Flag

Name: Joyceline Mazerolle on Jan 13, 2010Comments: The sale of NB Power is wrong. The math even in it's most basic form does not add up. A sale of this magnitude of NB's public assets without consent of the public (who own the assets), who have voted this government is not only insulting to each voter and non-voter alike but also makes this province an "avoid at all costs" destination/ex-patriots would not be foolish enough to return to such a province that holds it's population in such disregard - over SO many issues of the last few years not only this one. Please vote no on this issue - the public that voted you in is begging you. Joyceline MazerolleFlag

Keep the great unwashed at arms length until the 11 hour. No wonder your in this mess. I say NO to this Sell out. I take extreme offense to The Premiers recent comments. Inflaming and insulting the public? I only hope that Long Time Liberals grab him by the shirt collar and shake some sense into is head.Flag

One is we lose our only Asset when it comes to Power, and Two we will still have to pay for this power weather we own it or not. It’s a bad deal, and you know it!!!!!Flag

Name: Dave Bartlett on Jan 17, 2010Comments: I have alot of concerns over the long-term impact of this deal, inparticular where the rates are tied to the rate of inflation. I believe inflation will begin to spike for a period of time once the economy begins to recover due to heavy global competition for resources, which will put us at a great disadvantage. Quebec has proven to be a very tough negotiator. Looking back at the Churchhill Falls contract with NFLD which turned out to be a terrible deal for NFLD, Quebec has refused to return to the table to renegotiate, and instead has profitted tremendously. They will not treat New Brunswickers any differently should this turn out to be a very poor deal for NB. Furthermore, once our utility is sold, NB'ers will never be able to afford to rebuild a new one from scratch, should we decide to tear up the contract. What I find hard to believe is that a more business smart approach waw not taken with negotiations. If Quebec could provide us industrial energy for 30% less, and they truely wanted to secure transmission to the US, why couldn't your government have negotiated something which would have helped our industries and kept NB power in our hands. For example, could you not have contracted long-term transmission capacity between PQ and the US, and obtained a rate relief of perhaps 20% for industry?Flag

Name: Viola Savage on Jan 31, 2010Comments: Mr. Burke, I urge you to listen to your constituents........please uphold the wishes of NB taxpayers. We are against the sale of NB Power, not just to Quebec but to anyone. New Brunswickers have had no official input on this matter. Please urge the Premier to hold a referendum on the sale of NB Power BEFORE he signs the final deal on March 31/10. If not, a referendum on the incompetency of this government will take place in the September 2010 provincial election and that certainly will not shed a positive light on you and your colleagues. I expect many thousands of New Brunswickers will be performing our own dance rendition of "T.J. Burke caught with his pants on the ground". Say "NO" to the sale of NB Power. Thank you.
