Comments: Gracie is a mild mannered dog with a good temperment. She has not shown any kinds of aggression towards anyone. It would be a shame to have to give her away to a new home when she is loved so much by her current owners.

Comments: Gracie is a kind gentle dog that loves all people young and old. I have known her for five years and I would have to say I have never met such a well behaved dog. She plays well with children as well as other dogs. If the Erlanger council would meet her they would see what a joy she brings to the city. Mr. and Mrs. John Jones are good respectful citizens that pay their taxes on time and keep their property clean. John Jones has lived in Erlanger most of his life, his paternal grandparents were Erlanger residents for over 40 years. His maternal great grandfather and grandfather were business owners in Erlanger for over 50 years. If this is the way the city treats its citizens maybe it is time for me to move.

Comments: I could understand the having the ordinance if there was a complaint made against the dog that the dog may have in some way shown to be vicious. It appears that there are no complaints what so ever. It appears that the community likes the dog. I do not agree that a breed of dog makes it a bad dog. It is an animal that the owner is responsible for. The owner is the responsible party for controlling the behavior.

Comments: I can honestly say that Gracie is the sweetest dog that I have ever met. She has a great temperment and would never hurt anyone (except maybe by licking them too much). If there has been issues with pitbulls in the past then they should punish the specific deed not the entire breed. Punish the deed not the breed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Comments: In the 5 years we have owned her she has not once attempted to hurt anyone. She is a calm very loving dog and in fact our neighbors will stop by to pet her and even bring their grandchildren over to see her. She is part of our family and it would be a shame if we had to move over a dog who is harmless.

Comments: I am a citizen of Erlanger and I would be very upset to hear that someone has to move from their home over a dog who is very harmless. I have taken my children into the Jone's home on several occassions and I have never feared that she would hurt them. She is actually very loving toward them and they enjoy playing with her.

Comments: It is worth knowing that because of the number of Labradors and Golden Retrievers that are owned...there are MORE bites from these breeds per year than any other breed. The bully breeds have been unfairly singled out because of their connection to dog fighting and drug rings. It may behove the city of Erlanger to consider punishing the source...the people who have ruined these magnificent breeds. By the way in England (I'm English) the Staffordshire Terrier has traditionally been known as a "nanny" for children...such is their loyalty and gentle spirit.

Comments: Gracie is a sweet dog that plays well with kids, adults, and other animals. Jay and Katie are responsible pet and home owners. This ordinance should not be aimed at pets or owners like this and needs to be reviewed. This situation is based on one person's opinion who just happened to see this dog in passing. There were no complaints and there is no history of aggression. You can see on this list the opinions of the people that know and live around this dog and it is quite clear that she is not the type of "vicious dog" that this ordinance was put in place for.

Comments: I don't understand how the dog in question (Gracie) could apply to this ordinance. She has been nothing but a sweet animal to everyone she comes in contact with. The owner's have made sure to raise her as a very social animal. I have seen her react to strangers walking in the Jones' home, and it is the same as it is when friends or family stop by, tail wagging ready for them to pet her. I have never seen signs of aggression and trust her around my 8 and 5 year old sons. I feel that the animal in question deserves to have a place in our community.

Comments: My husband and I are both familiar with Jay's dog. Not only is she well mannered and very well taken care of, she is never left without supervision. This very vague and generalized ordinance for Erlanger needs to be revised so that a ridiculous situation like this does not occur. To just take away an animal that may share some characteristics or appearance resembling a Pittbull without complaint from neighbors or showing any sign of neglect or aggression is plain silly. She is obviously well taken care of and has never had a complaint filed against her. Her owner was just taking her for a walk when she was spotted and Jay ticketed by the warden. They would have this wonderful, loving dog taken away from loving family and put to death without any strike against her other than having some similarities in appearance. Rubbish. The owner is willing to put up his home just to keep her. All of this because of one warden

Comments: I think that laws should be change and be similar to law that is in effect in the City of Cincinnati. I do not believe that a mixed breed dog be automatically considered to be vicious dog unless the it has proven itself to be as such. Thank you.

Comments: I have watched Gracie when Jay and Katie were out of town, not only was she a great companion but she is a sweet as candy. Gracie NEVER shows any signs of agressiveness towards myself or my family. Even in a strange home (my in-laws) she was loving and respectful and completely obedient. This is nonsense to make a couple move out of their home that they have had for over 5 years just because some "dog-owners" train their dogs to be agressive. Why is it that our government puinshes the good people when bad people are the ones that make the bad decisions.

Comments: I agree that there should be some sort of ordinance in place but the real violators need to be punished, not just random dog owners. I think a little more research need to be done by the county before the dog owners are forced to move or get rid of their pet.

Comments: I have owned, bred, and shown American Pitbull Terriers, and would not have done any of the before mentioned if I felt they were a threat to either me or my family. Breed specific legislation prevents law abiding citizens in the suburbs from owning quality bred dogs, whereas the laws have originated due to non-law abiding citizens in urban and rural areas. Consider the dog ordinances passed by Jefferson County (Louisville) for ideas of how to better restrict ownership of vicious animals by irresponsible owners. Pitbulls are no more likely to bite than any other breed, refer to CDC reports for verification. But there are those who should not own any type of dog, and unfortunately, many of those are attracted to dogs that boost their own ego, such as pitbulls or rotweilers or chows. Blame the deed and not the breed! Support more severe penalties for dog fighting, inhumane treatment of all animals, and irresponsible dog ownership.

Comments: Breed specific legislation does not work......period. It keeps responsible dog owners from owning the dogs in question, and makes them even more desirable for those who the laws are set out to prevent from owning them. Cocker spaniels are listed number one by the CDC for dog bites, perhaps they should be listed in any breed specific legislation. Or maybe, all dogs have the potential to bite man, and any such event should be evaluated individually, as to whether the dog be destroyed, or the severity of penalty given to the owner.
