Children of any nationality, in any place, with any level of ability need love, adequate food, and stability as much as their situation allows. This is the birthright all of the world's most vulnerable ones. |

Most of these children looked like survivors of Nazi concentration camps,their condition is due to neglect of all kinds, and in some instances abuse.Bulgaria should be forced to improve the conditions of the homes of all abandoned children and indeed adults within a certain period of time or be ejected unceremoniously from the EU.It was obvious that the superintendent of the home was totally oblivious to the situation and didn't care.The caregivers with the exception of the man in the laundry were doing what they thought was required of them but they failed to realise that there is more to care than washing and pushing food into children's mouths.Apart from anything else the home is an accident waiting to happen re. fire.Locking the children into their dorms. at night and only 1 staff on duty is unbelievable,but we saw it happening.The tragedy is that a great many of those children if given love, proper nourishment,exercise, occupational therapy and medical care would be able to integrate , even, if to a limited degree with others in society.This program is a sad and shocking testimony to the Gov. and people of Bulgaria.This uncaring atrtitude must at all costs be stopped.Unfortunately though, even improving the situation now will be too late for most of those poor children, as their physical and mental condition is probably beyond repair. |

| 94 | souraya serhan | As i watched this documentary recently, May 2008 Australia SBS, I cried and cried for days. I was feeling empty not believing how some humans can be so UNHUMAN. I was comparing how most animals will go to any extent to protect their young or their territory. Sadly neither the families of these children nor the staff who were suppose to be caring for these children did what normally comes to even animals, that is protect and care for the young. I got onto the various websites to see what I can do. I discovered some updates on the childrens lives as at November 2007. I feel that I need to know something has been done and the lives of these children is on the way to recovery. Vasky's picture wont leave my mind and I need to know what has become of her fate. I write this with tears trickling down my face and not knowing whether I am going to be heard or comforted with some news about these children. I pray for them every night and hope that in there tough lives they have angels above them whispering in their ears comforting them and letting them know that they have a better life to look forward to if they don't make it in this one. |
