Name: Joseph O'Donnell on Sep 28, 2004State: VTCountry: USComments: I neither use cannabis myself, or support it's use by others, particularly young people. That being said, this conviction(of the entertainer known as Buju Banton) seems to have been made under legally troubling circumstances. Banton as an artist has been a positive voice in the Jamaican music scene, almost single-handedly turning the popular music of that troubled island from the glorification of guns and violence that was prevelant in the 1980's and 1990's to a more spirtual and uplifting style. To ban him from performing in the US deprives young American "dancehall" fans of the experience of listening to his message, which deplores guns, violence, and hard drug use. This ban is unfair and counterproductive, and, I respectfully submit, ought to be lifted.Flag
