Name: Shelly-Ann Archer on Sep 28, 2004State:Country: CAComments: I am appalled that they have banned Buju from performing in the U.S. and Britain. I live in Toronto and anytime Buju comes to perform he gives a good performance. We all love him. I have been a fan of his ever since I was a little girl. They haven't banned him from performing here, so I don't know why the U.S. and Britain are banning him. Another thing I support all the Jamaican artists who are condemning homosexuality. The real reason why they are banning Buju is because of contempt and discord towards homosexuality. I don't support gay and lesbian marriages and I sure as hell don't support gays and lesbians having rights to raise children. Man to man and woman to woman is so unjust. If the governments continue to pass bills for gays and lesbians to get married, God is going to come for His people. I am sorry but I have to say my piece. I am fired up. They want to have more rights than heterosexuals. Buju I love you. I give you 200% support. Keep up the good fight. Don't stop what you are doing. A God yuh a live fah. We will not support homosexuality. It is in the Bible and Politicians, Judge, Priest, Pastor, Gays, Lesbians etc. can never, will never, and can ever change that. I love you again Buju ShellyFlag

Quite honestly who doesn't smoke weed. I'm tired of the corruption in government. Drinking alcohol is more dangerous than weed. Someone make common sense decision !!!!Flag

Name: Sharon Husbands on Sep 28, 2004State: NYCountry: USComments: The "Drug War" in the US and the UK is a facade. Its pretense is unbearable and the subsequent arrests, sentencing and imprisonment of marajuana users and cultivators is unjustified and obscenely excessive. The institutionalized criminalization of marajuana derives from the fact that US and UK federal government has not bit the bullet and introduced taxation laws and methods for the procurement of marajuana and its subsequent sale to the public as a private good. The outrageous contradictions present in American drug laws, for example sentencing laws for crack-cocaine vs powdered cocaine, find their roots in the status quo and the prevailing socio-economic prejudices rampant in almost every area of life in the US.(I mean predominantly who sniffs eight balls of cocaine during business luncheons and who smokes crack in abandoned apartment buildings) The Jamaican Justice Department and law authorities are hypocrites and if they harbored any concern regarding the despondent economic conditions their country's citizens courageouly battle each and every day, they would decriminalize marajuana cultivation, sale and consumption allowing the incorporation of marajuana into Jamaica's domestic and possible even, foreign, economy. Buju Banton is one of dancehall's and this reggae generation's most prolific artists but he is also a person and one of the many victims of aggressively biased marajuana laws and over-the-top sanctions. And what about the police officers who entered Buju Banton's premises illegally without a search warrant or justified cause for conducting their intrusive search and seizure procedures. When are the going to be persecuted and held accountable for their actions But then again are any officers ever held to the same standards as common tax paying citizens because after all that is exactly what they are. There are many others like Buju Banton and like Buju their cases are in desperate need of attention and their sentences require immediate reassessment. WE ARE NOT THE CRIMINALS!!!!!!Flag

I am sure that people who have been convicted for crimes are still traveling all over the world. If he did commit a crime it was done in Jamaica and he was punished by the law why is the America and Britian want to punish him again. Its not like he tried to export the herb.Flag

Why don't you concentrate on murderers or rapists, or even goverment officials who steal money out of the hands of working folks.Flag
