Name: Tom Parish on Feb 26, 2013Comments: Mainland Europe's trains are less frequent, but also usually less cramped than British trains, simply because they are longer and taller. We can't extend carriage height on our rail network, but we can certainly make our trains longer. Running a 2-car train in rush hour is completely stupid.Flag

Name: Janet Galea on Feb 26, 2013Comments: I get the train at Hall i'th Wood train station and due to the fact there are only usually 2 carriages, I rarely get a seat and have to stand until Manchester. Last week there were over 45 people standing in my carriage alone. I say over as the train was so full I could not see all the other people at the other end of the carriage. As there are 48 seats per carriage, clearly there is an argument for another carriage to be put on.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Feb 27, 2013Comments: I have complained for the first time in 5 years of using the train services because the increase in fare prices has reached a tipping point whereby I no longer feel I am getting value for money. Trains are late, overcrowded, canceled or the driver simply doesn't turn up. The train companies blame the government for not having stock available yet I see trains with empty carriages at peak times going to Kirby whilst services to Southport have only 2! It can't be rocket science surely, although the salaries and bonuses of the train executives would indicate otherwise.Flag

Name: Linda Wildish on Feb 28, 2013Comments: I fully support this petition because I am appauled and frightened to travel on northern rail I use Northern Rail trains from Blackrod to Salford Crescent and back again, on several occassions recentlyI have been unable to board my preferred train 16.27 from Salford Crescent because it was too full, and this has happened on several occassions. On other occassions when I have managed to get on train they are packed solid, dangerous, impersonal and unhealthy I very rarely get a seat. This is not a recent problem it has been ongoing for over 3 years now and my feelings are that I am tempted now to use my car and forget the train, as is the opinion of many other travellers.Flag

Name: Ruth Todd on Mar 5, 2013Comments: I travel Blackburn to Manchester every day. I have lost count of the number of times we have a short-formation of carriages and sometimes have been lucky to get a seat myself when still one hour away from Manchester; never mind people at Bromley Cross and Hall ith Wood who are sometimes lucky to get ON the train. With the continual rise in fares I would be very interested to see where our money is going when we frequently get carriages with dodgy seats or seats missing. Should there not be a maximum occupancy in Northern's carriages for Safety????Flag

Name: Maxine Walker on Apr 24, 2013Comments: Travelling on the Clitheroe line to Salford Crescent became such an unbearable twice daily experience (mainly due to overcrowding far worse that sheep and cattle experience in the UK), but also after finding myself left on the platform after being unable to board a full to (more than) capacity train, that I have resorted to travelling to and from work by car. I would gladly return to train travel if I be certain of having a more bearable and reliable experience.Flag
