This sidewalk has been a very long time coming in a densely populated area: over 12 years for the Clifton Community Council; over 30 for the blind community. My family and I will use this sidewalk often, including my 89 year old mother!Flag

Name: John Beckman on Jan 25, 2012Comments: This is a public works project that has been ten years in the making by now. In this project, public works to me means both street and sidewalk changes and improvement as to their infrastructure. The sidewalks side of the project brings safe passage and connection to many businesses and concentrations of residential population along the north side of Brownsboro Road. The pedestrians that benefit from the improvements are after all customers of the same businesses that the sidewalks will serve.Flag

Name: Geoffrey Hobin on Jan 25, 2012Comments: Opponents will worry about "losing" a lane of traffic. They will not. The left hand turn lane will allow traffic to continue to flow just as it does today, until it pinches down at Story. Any apparent loss of convenience is far outweighed by the safety and health benefits.Flag
