Name: Diane Ring on Mar 27, 2007Comments: I have reviewed the power point presentation prepared by Superintendent Lupini, and strongly support the effort to try to restore part of the education budget through the proposed increase in the fees and fines collected by the town. One of the single greatest assets the Town of Brookline has is its educational program. If we fail to do the utmost to maintain it, the effect will be a slide in quality from which it will not be easy to recover, and for which our students will pay the price.Flag

Our schools need these services and the price is small compared to the cost of the cuts. I am in favor of raising the parking and garbage rates. I agree that: "It is better to build boys than to repair men..." (anonymous)Flag

At the same time, I am not against using this opportunity to allow some re-structcturing throughout the Brookline schools, which will be hopefully used to move high paid individials who have not contributed in a meaningful, professional way to our schools for years, and who are a draining our budget, out of our school system.Flag

Name: Christina Suh on Mar 29, 2007Comments: As a Runkle PTO president and Brookline resident who has paid my share of parking tickets and refuse fees, I wholeheartedly endorse increasing these fees to help support our schools. I do not believe, as has been argued by local businesses, that the increased parking fees will detract shoppers. I have never made a decision not to shop in a nearby town based on parking fees.Flag
