Brookfield's current "long day/short day" kindergarten schedule is one that allows our children to grow, learn, mature and transition into 1st grade. The BOE's extremely close vote (4:3) to go to a full-day program is one that may not benefit all of the town's children. This petition is to show the Brookfield BOE that there are parents interested in learning more about a possible "opt-out" classroom for the fall. An "opt-out" classroom is a feasible one given the close BOE vote and town sentiment. Many other area schools who also went to a full-day kindergarten presented an "opt-out" in year 1.
