In recent years the Olivier Awards have had a larger coverage, being broadcast in full by the BBC in 2011 and 2012, be it on the BBC Red Button, or BBC Radio Two. For the past two years the coverage has been on ITV in the form of a highlights show, this gives those performing well deserved air time, however the winners of the awards rarely get a look in.

If you win Best Actor/Actress in a play, or the BBC Radio 2 Audience Award, your speech will be shown in full - if however you win an award in some of the less 'popular' categories, Sound and Lighting Design Awards... Pretty much all of the Dance/Opera Awards, you're guaranteed to have your acceptance speech squished into a short five second or less segment.

Yes viewers want to see the performances, but surely the winners should be recognised on our screens or through the radio as well! Every one of the winners should be given equal coverage regardless of award received. After all, if it wasn't for the Set Designer, or the supporting Actress, the performance wouldn't be half what it is!

So I ask everyone at the Olivier Awards, PLEASE get the Awards broadcast in full for 2015 - be it on the BBC red button again, Broadcast live on a mainstream TV channel, radio coverage, or even a Live Stream on the Olivier Award Website. Something that stops the broadcasting companies to decide that one speech is more important than another.

If it wasn't for the enormous ensemble of people working to create these wonderful pieces of art, we wouldn't have half the thriving theatre community we do today!

Give all the recognised artists a voice!
