Name: PATRICIA DAWKINS on Apr 29, 2010Comments: Does the BBC ever consider its older listeners (who are increasing year on year) ? There are many many listeners who miss the wonderful music provided by British dance bands. PLEASE make a regular slot again for this most popular of music on Radio 2.Flag

Name: J R Baker on May 4, 2010Comments: The action in withdrawing the Dance Band Days segment of Sunday evening listening is just another symptom of the BBC 's policy of ignoring parts of their core and most faithful audience. The juveniles who run the BBC now have no regard for the older audiences whatsoever. It is a matter of making everything dumb down to the largest (and lowest) common denominator.Flag

Name: Graham Williams on May 17, 2010Comments: I like all kinds of music, but what a loss of this kind of music on broadcasting generally. These people who created this genre where more than talented and should not be forgotten, this genre and people are part of our musical heritage. I strongly support this petition. How long before all the other FEW similar programs are dropped such as organist entertains etcFlag

Name: Jack Rough on May 22, 2010Comments: The Golden Age of British Dance Bands produced some of the most listenable music ever written and continues to be enjoyed greatly by the older or retired generations whose proportion of the UK population is INCREASING....so how about increasing rather than reducing the air time allocated to this music genre?Flag

Name: Casper Looman on Jun 27, 2010Comments: Malcolm Laycock,s programme was something that I looked forward to all week. I thought the chronological order from the dance bands of the twenties to the thirties and forties was so well done. I learned so much from Mr. Laycock and gained so much pleasure and appreciation for this wonderful music. Since the BBC is a publically funded organization, how could you rob the listeners, who pay for the BBC, by actually dropping British Dance bands of the twenties and thirties and instead giving the listeners something which they do not want. The result being that this music will not be available to new listeners - of any age. I call it vandalism! The replacement programme content, hosted by Clare Teal, through no fault on her part, I suspect, is so insipid that I simply cannot listen to it. The result, that Radio Two has lost another listener, especially since Malcolm Laycock's programme was the only Radio Two show I listened to.Flag

Name: Jory Looman on Jun 28, 2010Comments: Since I can now no longer listen to Malcolm Laycock's programme, or anything like it, I have to search You Tube to find the dance bands. I suggest the BBC programme managers do the same, and they will see for themselves that many, many people of all ages love this music, and the young ones post comments bemoaning the fact, that in comparison, their generation of music is "rubbish".Flag

Name: Jennifer Bate on Aug 18, 2010Comments: British Dance Bands and Swing Bands are such a wonderful feel-good experience and we are in great need of regular doses, as well as more live Dance Band Concerts. The BBC used to be the flagship of these much needed once a week programmes and I request that you review the decision and restore the Golden Age of British Dance Bands programme to a weekly slot again.Flag

CLARE TEAL IS A GOOD PRESENTER BUT THE SUNDAY NIGHT AT TEN PROGRAMME SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO 90 MINUTES AND MOVED BACK TO MONDAY EVENINGS WHICH WAS ALWAYS BIG BAND NIGHT! THE NAMES OF JACK PAYNE, AMBROSE, HENRY HALL, LEW STONE ETC ARE OLD FRIENDS. THEIR WONDERFUL RECORDS ARE NEVER PLAYED ON RADIO 2. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME TERRY WOGAN PLAYED A CAROLE GIBBONS RECORD!Flag
