This petition is in response to the recent flood event (Jan 2011) in Brisbane, QLD. Tidal effects have played some part in the severity of the recent flood. There are many great examples all over the world for tidal control, for example, Thames River in London. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thames_Barrier Australia is a developed and relatively rich country and it may be time to investigate the possibility of installing tide barrier for Brisbane River to prevent future major flooding.
