Name: Chosen Few on Aug 6, 2010Comments: Qarl's innovations and contributions to SL have been the biggest reason I've been able to keep using SL as a viable platform for my work these past few years. I'm usually optimistic, the last person to preach doom & gloom, but really, I fear for the future of SL without Qarl's direct involvement. While I do understand that we on the outside are not privy to the details of why the decision was made to let Qarl go, so it's possible there may have been good reason for it, I can't let go of the feeling that Qarl was integral to SL's success as a platform, and that it would be in all of our best interests for LL to bring him back.Flag

There is still improvements to be made to the meshes that make up the avatars of SL. I vote to have them return to the staff of what makes Linden Labs great.Flag

Name: Dusky Jewell on Aug 6, 2010Comments: I am shocked that LL would lay off someone as innovative as Qarl. I am thinking that LL is on it's deathbed for the first time, because the layoff doesn't make sense, and Qarl doesn't even know why he was laid off. Qarl's contributions to SL are amazing, and the mesh support I was really looking forward to. Bad decision LL, fire a couple of useless form letter responding customer service Lindens/Ontynes, and bring Qarl back.Flag

Name: Maxfox Rau on Aug 6, 2010Comments: LL, this is the stupidest thing I've seen you do in the three years I've been a member. It is perhaps time I sold my land and moved on. Please reconsider this layoff, because it only damages Second Life further than it already has been damaged, over the last year. Thank youFlag

The search has died. music has been left in the dust even while the LA times writes us up, and the greatest generator of actually tools to help build the world has been handed his hat and shown the wrong side of the door. Find a way to bring Qarl back or find an egg-timer. Where ever he goes next will eat your lunch. (as if in-worldz isn't figuring out how to do it now.) Your children have all grown up Phillip, treat us like fellow travellers and listen to us or know we are now totally capable and ready to make the move elsewhere.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Aug 6, 2010Comments: I am astonished! The business decisions of Linden Labs over the past year or more have been irresponsible, including whatever the 'board' has decided to allow to happen. I blame all including this latest self-destructive decision on Phil Linden himself and his board. After all Phil , its not your money your playing with, you have that all banked by now don't you?Flag

Name: Torrid Luna on Aug 6, 2010Comments: If only a small part of what I read about Quarl in the last few hours is true, then it's a huge mistake of the Lab to fire him. There are other worlds out there, not just Second Life, but none of them was built with so much spirit and the work of countless brilliant people. Yet.Flag

Name: Grey Kurka on Aug 6, 2010Comments: As an art educator in rl as as a content creator in sl I am deeply saddened and heartsick by this move. SL has a significant role to play in contemporary culture as a focal point of massive creativity, and Qarl more than anyone else I know at LL was totally plugged into that. Please bring back our guru, we have so few reasons to stay now.Flag
