The recent rerouting of the Q45 bus to merge with the Q47 has been a complete disaster. This once-reliable route--which some passengers say "you used to be able to set your watch by"--is now a miserable experience fraught with long lines and even longer wait times for passengers between Glendale and Roosevelt Ave. During rush hour, 30-minute waits have now become the norm. In the evenings, long lines for the Glendale run snake around the block at Roosevelt Ave. station, while bus after empty bus is inexplicably sent to the (little-used) Marine Air Terminal instead. Then when a bus finally arrives, passengers are allowed on without paying and even through the back doors, just to get things moving. Not only does this result in no revenue for a bus full of passengers, but those passengers are not counted... which means artificially low ridership numbers for the route--giving the MTA an excuse to not improve service. Stops are skipped and buses are taken out of service just to get them back to the beginning of the line. Meanwhile, the lines get longer, the waits get more interminable and the passengers get more irate. This happens daily and nightly, and it's clear to everyone but the MTA that there's a problem. Passengers hate the change, drivers hate it and dispatchers hate it. Just ask them. It's time for the MTA to admit it hasn't worked, and change it back. BRING BACK THE Q45.
