He adds rare skill on the ice, and an exemplary personality off it in the community. Bring back our Saku, please, Mr. Gainey.Flag

Name: James Francis on Jul 3, 2009Comments: Bob I am a truly loyal fan of the Montreal Canadiens, in my opinion Koivu was a great captain for his 10 year reign in Montreal, but it is time to move on. Koivu is a small forward with alot of heart but you acquired 3 small forwards on July first all of them much better than Koivu. Bob bring back Alexei Kovalev and make him our Captain he is the missing piece to the puzzle. First of all he is a big forward, that is something we really need and he has the leadership qualities of a true Captain. Did you see what he did 2 years ago when he had C on his chest, that is what we need if you want to complete the dirve for 25.Flag

Name: Dustin McMillan on Jul 3, 2009Comments: Saku Koivu is not only an athlete but a role model. His comeback from cancer and the ability to perform competitively afterwords is truly inspirational. From his work with cancer patients to the equipment he helped fund for a Montreal hospital goes beyond his contributions on the ice. When Saku came back from cancer, it was probably the most exciting hockey game I have ever watched. It is simply saddening to see that Montreal would not bring back one of the clubs most courageous and generous players in its history. And this is without speaking of his on ice success which, no disrespect to any of the players that Montreal has signed in the last few days, is greater both statistically and in the form of leadership. A sad, sad day that Montreal would not resign Koivu and let him retire with the team that he has given so much to.Flag
